The family of Ena Lucille Stewart Uhrig Lakin, McPherson, will celebrate her 90th birthday with an open house in her honor on Saturday, April 10, 2 - 3:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in McPherson. She was born April 6, 1920, at Abbyville, Kansas, to Rev. George Claire and Rev. Cora Louisa (Lehman) Stewart. Lucille married Ervin Uhrig on June 1, 1938. He died in 1962. On June 12, 1982, she married Glenn Lakin.
Lucille attended school at Raymond and Burrton before graduating from Preston High School in 1938. She has lived in the McPherson area for 56 years. She is a member of the First Baptist Church. Lucille was co-owner of Uhrig’s Tile, Lino & Blinds and worked at Anthony’s, Morris & Son, and retired from Sterling Drug in 1985. Lucille makes her home at the Cedar Village in McPherson.
Her children and spouses are: Dwayne and Donna Uhrig, Republic, Mo.; Phyllis and Larry Scherich, Wilmore, Verlyn and Sandy Uhrig, Marion, Myrla and Dale Walkley, Wichita, Janis and Larry Sigle, McPherson and Brenda and Royce Wilson, Harrisonville, Mo. She has 28 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
