A bomb threat called in to a McPherson gas station at 1035 W. Kansas Ave. Tuesday night was found to be a false alarm, a police official said.
Capt. Mike Terry of the McPherson Police Department said an unknown person called the store’s clerk and said a bomb was in the business’s parking lot.
Police officers and Kansas Highway Patrol troopers responded to the scene at 6:28 p.m. A sheriff’s deputy already was on the scene when the threat was made.
An explosives-sniffing dog checked the area, and it was determined after the sweep that explosives were not present. Police officers left the business at 8:15 p.m.
Law enforcement had not made any arrests at press time, although Terry said investigators did have a lead in the case.
