On the eve of the start of Rep. Mike Pompeo’s confirmation hearings to become CIA Director, George Bruce has announced his desire to fill the expected vacancy in Kansas’ 4th Congressional Seat. Bruce, a lifelong Wichita-based lawyer and businessman with interests in energy, banking and senior housing, has for years led fundraising efforts for successful Republican candidates.
“Six years ago, our congressman, Mike Pompeo, answered his call to leave the private sector to serve and defend the people of the 4th District. We should all be proud of Mike and grateful for the job that he has done,” Bruce said. “Tomorrow morning, Mike’s confirmation hearings begin. It is now up to us to fill the gap to replace him to continue fighting for the people of the 4th District.”
The special election to fill the vacancy will first require each qualifying party to select a candidate. The Republican candidate will be selected by 126 delegates from the 4th District after the seat is officially open, and the special election will occur shortly thereafter.
Bruce has practiced with Martin Pringle since 1989 and served the firm as Managing Partner in 1996 and 1997. In addition to the practice of law, George serves as Chairman of the Board and CEO of Aladdin Petroleum Company, a domestic oil and gas company with operations in the mid-continent region, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Aladdin-Middle East, Ltd, an international oil and gas company, and as Chairman of Sterling CNG, LLC, a natural gas compression and fueling company. George also serves on the Board of Directors of CrossFirst Holdings, LLC, a bank holding company, and is a Ruling Elder at Heartland Community Church of Wichita.
