“He was under contract, so we have agreed to pay the salary until the end of the school year.”
Some controversy has arisen about former USD 418 Superintendent Mark Crawford still receiving his salary months after turning in his resignation. Sources at USD 418 have confirmed that this is the case.
“He was under contract, so we have agreed to pay the salary until the end of the school year,” said Gordon Mohn, interim superintendent.
Crawford came to the McPherson school district in time for the 2015-2016 school year from his role as superintendent at Hugoton. He replaced former Superintendent Dr. Randy Watson, who went to become the Kansas Commissioner of Education.
Crawford submitted his resignation Nov. 17, 2016 and his final duties and responsibilities were completed Nov. 22, 2016.
The board will soon start their search for a new superintendent, who will start this summer in time for the 2017-2018 school year. Until a suitable candidate is found, Mohn will act as superintendent.
Crawford has not commented on his resignation.
