ELYRIA — When the Elyria Christian School boys basketball team puts together a complete performance, the result can be scary for opposing teams.

Four Eagles scored at least 9 points as the Eagles cruised to a 57-28 win over Goessel. The offense was balanced and the defense was stifling.

It was exactly the kind of performance head coach Zach Goodrich wanted to see from his team.

“We had a great start tonight against Goessel that was much needed after two slow starts in the previous game,” Goodrich said. “Our defensive energy was good and we got our hands on a lot of balls and rebounded well. We had contribution from a lot of different guys tonight.”

The Eagles allowed just three points in the first quarter and scored 23 points in the second quarter. That added up to a 35-10 halftime lead.

The second half was much closer with Elyria holding a 23-18 advantage in that time frame.

Caleb Froese led Elyria with 13 points. Jackson Stone and Kobe Neufeldt pitched in 11 a piece, and Tyler Thiessen scored 9.
