"It's special because it’s a community event for dads and daughters to spend time together without moms and other family."

Every little girl is a princess, as the saying goes. For one night, girls big and small can dress up and go to the ball, with their best man — Daddy.

Tickets are on sale now for the Fifth Annual Daddy Daughter Ball held in Lindsborg.

"It's special because it’s a community event for dads and daughters to spend time together without moms and other family," Lindsborg Recreation Director Kate Elliot said.

This year, the dance will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Feb. 25 with the doors opening at 6:15 p.m. In the past, the dance was held at the elementary school, but last year it moved to the J.O. Sundstrom Ballroom.

"It’s been great because it’s a little more of an elegant atmosphere," Elliot said.

Ladies from newborn up to 14 years old are invited to dress up and attend a ball with a live DJ, snacks, photo booth and raffle prizes, and this year there may be a special surprise guest.

Tickets are $30 per couple with a $5 charge per additional child for those daddies with multiple daughters in tow, but the tickets must be purchased prior to the day of the dance. The registration deadline has been extended to Feb. 24. Tickets can be purchased at the Lindsborg City Hall at 101 S. Main St.

The money from tickets sold goes in to the hosting of the event, and if there are any funds left over, they go back to the Lindsborg Recreation Department to help fund other events.

The dance is growing each year and hopefully it will have even more in attendance this year.

"When it first started there were about 50 couples. Last year there were about 80," Elliott said. "This is probably my favorite event to work on of all that I do."
