At least two McPherson High School students were transported to Salina Regional Health Center Tuesday afternoon after the sport utility vehicle they were riding in rolled on a gravel road, authorities said.
Capt. Joe Hoffman, of the McPherson County Sheriff’s Office, said the names of the five students involved in the one-vehicle crash were not available Tuesday afternoon, although he said at least three of them were 18.
He also did not have information on the extent of injuries, although he said one of the students who had been riding in the back seat was ejected during the crash, which occurred at about 2:30 p.m. on Coronado Heights Road just east of Lightville Road.
Hoffman said the driver lost control of the vehicle as it came down a hill on the gravel surface.
The Saline-McPherson county line runs down the center of Coronado Heights Road, so emergency crews from both counties responded. Hoffman said because the SUV swerved into the south ditch, the crash was in McPherson County.
