Great individual performances highlight Mac invitational

MCPHERSON — The McPherson High School Junior Varsity track teams finished second and third respectively in the McPherson Invitational on Thursday. The JV boys finished with 96.5 points to finish behind only Andale, who amassed 170 points in winning the meet. The JV girls recorded 71 points, 25 points behind champion Goddard. Andale finished second with 92.5 points.

"We had some great individual performances last night at our JV meet," said Bullpups Coach Jace Pavlovich. "All we are concerned about is getting better in every event. The kids did a great job doing that."

In all, 16 personal records by 12 Pups athletes were achieved in the meet, including Laynee Schroeder's PR in the Long Jump, good enough to qualify her as a Varsity jumper. Also setting new personal records for the girls team were Avery Howard, Chrystal Regehr, Edith Garcia, and Peyton Johnson. New PR's for the boys team were set by Mason Thrash, Cade Harris, Gage Shook, Nathan Vontz, Thomas Diggs, Zach Wankum, and Jake Houghton.

The JV teams are back in action Monday as they travel to Salina in another 11 team meet. Start time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at Salina USD 305 District Stadium.
