The McPherson High School Forensics team placed fifth as a team, beating Buhler and Bishop Miege.

Two members are now individual state champions: James "Jimmy" Fortner is the 4A Kansas State Champion in Serious Solo Acting and Ano Chikunya is the 4A Kansas State Champion in Prose Interpretation.

Other students placing at the state competition include:

Kiley Delaney and Mattea Black placed sixth in Duet Acting.

Stephanie Vickroy and Drake Langshaw placed fourth in Duet Acting.

Yanet Salazar placed 10th in Impromptu Speaking.

Jeff Lemon placed 13th in Dramatic Solo Acting.

Rachel Janzen and Makayla Lacey placed 10th in Duet Acting

The team saw success at festival competitions as well.

Laurel Gormon, junior, received a I rating on her Informative Speech about coral.

Logan Hardgrave, freshmen, received a I rating on his Informative Speech on brand names.

Jalyn Whorton, freshmen, received a I rating on her Oration about labeling and a I rating for her Informative Speech about Chuck Yeager.

Cody Allen, junior, received a I rating on his prose piece, "Steps."
