Jacob Lackey is two back in his flight, three back overall as they head to the final round at Turkey Creek.

McPherson's Jacob Lackey is sitting just two shots off the lead in the 18 years old and over flight and three shots back of the overall lead heading into Thursday's final round of the Kansas Golf Association (KGA) 58th annual Boys Junior Amateur Championship. He shot an opening round 75 on Tuesday followed by a 1-over 71 on Wednesday.

In Tuesday's opening round Lackey went out in 37, just two over par but struggled with the wind and his putter on the back nine to come in with a 38, for a first round total of 75. He had two birdies against five bogeys and a double bogey to enter Wednesday's play in fourth place, just four strokes back of Taylor Larsen, who shot an opening round 71 in their flight.

Wednesday's second round saw less wind and higher temperatures, which equated into lower golf scores for most, including Lackey. Starting on No. 10, Lackey put together eight straight pars before birdieing to go out with a 34. Unfortunately, after the turn he struggled again, posting two double bogey's and bogey to offset three nice birdies to come in with a 37 and a second round total of 71.

Lackey and Larsen are tied in the 18 and over flight as they enter Thursday's final round, one shot back of Luke Brugman, who sits with a two day total of 144, four over par. Gentry Scheve from the 15 years old flight, is the overall leader entering Thursday with a two day total of 179.

Lackey is in the second to last foursome for the final round Thursday, Larsen is in the next to last, with Scheve and Brugman in the final four pairing. This will give Lackey a chance to post a low score, be the clubhouse leader and put the pressure on his opponents to come chase him.

Leaders in the other age divisions include Thomas Luger in the 17 years old flight, Will Harding in the 16's, Scheve in the 15's and Lee Ryan in the 14's and under. Megan Propeck leads the girls division with a two day total of 147, as she vies for the 7th annual Sadie Park Sunflower Girls Junior Championship being played at Turkey Creek along with the boys.
