At around 1:20 p.m. a 1996 Ford Explorer driven by David Anderson, 68 of Newton, was northbound on Interstate 135, one mile south of Hesston, in the right lane. Anderson's rear tire blew causing him to cross the center line to left and cross the median. The Ford Explorer struck a 2011 Chevrolet Impala driven by Rachel Gaylor, 20, of League City.
David Anderson as well as passenger Jacob Anderson, 22, of Newton were both taken to Newton Medical Center with possible injuries. Gaylor was taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita to be treated for injuries along with her passenger Lauren Hughes, 25, of McPherson.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, all occupants were wearing seat belts.
