Lindsborg battled its way into the losers bracket final against CVL on Monday.

MOUNDRIDGE — A short-handed Moundridge senior Babe Ruth baseball team's season ended on Saturday in the District 4 tournament as they lost to cross-county rival Lindsborg in an elimination game 7-3. It was the final game ever for several Wildcats players.

Moundridge got on the board first scoring a run in the top of the first inning, as they faced the unusual view from the visitors dugout at their home ball field. Lindsborg answered back with four runs in the bottom of the first and never relinquished the lead after that, despite being out-hit by the Cats 7-4. Lindsborg's efforts were helped by seven Moundridge errors in the field.

Kyle Stucky was the only Moundridge batter with multiple hits, going 3 for 3 and scoring two runs in his final outing with the Wildcats. He will age out and not be eligible to play next summer. Chris Leddy, Bryant Olson, Remington Creed and Trevor Kohl each picked up a single hit as well.

Dylan Sugars was the starting pitcher for Moundridge and went five innings with six strikeouts and two walks as he gave up six runs on four hits; only one runs was earned. He gave way to Caleb Frye in the sixth, who yielded a run on no hits with one strikeout. Both Sugars and Frye along with Colton Stucky also saw their final action as Moundridge Wildcats.

"We did not play well defensively against Lindsborg," said Cats coach Lynn Eichelberger. "We had some players playing different positions again due to five of our players still being gone on a youth trip. We stranded a lot of base runners and did not get hits when we needed them."

Lindsborg battled its way into the losers bracket final against CVL on Monday. A win against CVL not only puts them in the championship finals but qualifies them for the state tournament, as the top two teams from District 4 move on. Abilene has already qualified and awaits the winner of CVL and Lindsborg in the finals of the District 4 tournament. Results of these games were not available at press time.
