Central Kansas Regional Solid Waste Authority
The next regular quarterly meeting of the CKRSWA will be held at 7 p.m. on July 19 at the McPherson County Transfer Station, 1431 17th Ave., McPherson.
The next regular meeting of the Galva City Council will be at 7 p.m. on Aug. 7 at the Galva City Hall, 208 S. Main St.
The Inman City Council met Monday for its regular meeting. Jan Nolde and John Regier of Swindoll, Janzen, Hawk & Loyd reviewed and answered questions regarding the proposed 2018 budget. It will decrease the mill levy to 69.019.
Bentley Richert requested that a water fountain be installed at the city park as there is no drinking water available. Councilman Danny Parr will pursue a solution.
Darin Neufeld of EBH Engineering presented Kansas Department of Wildlife & Parks Recreational Trails grant application options for construction of a sidewalk within Lambert Park. The cost to contract the work is $125,800. The cost to have volunteers complete the work is $40,450. The application, due Aug 1, is a 80 to 20 percent match. The mayor signed the application.
A motion was approved to create a five-year master plan to connect the two city parks and two schools by sidewalks.
John Ingalls requested that the city provide information to KSFA for a commercial/workman’s compensation insurance bid for 2018. It was granted.
Lamont Turcotte presented the Park Committee’s three-phase sidewalk plan. The cost is $60,000. He also discussed a wish list of lighting, pond reshaping, shrubbery, new playground equipment and a water spray ground.
A motion was approved to accept Appropriation Ordinance 2017-06 for June checks 13704 through 13747 and Appropriation Ordinance 2017-07 for July checks 13748 through 13776. The governing body also received various June cash and budgetary reports and the bank reconciliation.
The tornado shelter door at the high school is currently disabled due to IT maintenance.
A motion was approved to purchase five tasers for $6,994.90. The current ones are five years old and no longer under warranty.
Due to lead paint on the exterior of the south water tower, it will need to be repainted at some point. It will be power washed soon. A bid from Inman Electric of $4,175 to replace the HVAC for the Inman City Office was approved. It will be placed on the ground rather than the roof.
A price quote was presented for purchase of an electronic-read water meter system, with 565 meters included.
There was a complaint of foxes entering 308 S. Elm St.
The Bank of America asked to wait until the redemption period expires on Aug. 9 (they receive sheriff’s deed), to address disposition of the property.
The Moderate Income Housing grant of Joshua and Ann Brooks to build a home at 506 Harvest Hills was approved.
After discussion, an ordinance to revoke limiting mailboxes in the city rights-of-way was tabled. No action was taken on offer of a lease purchase.
They also discussed the right-of-way west of the Industrial Park.
