Jenny Davis at opera house
Lindsborg artist Jenny Davis is the featured artist in the Heritage Gallery, at the McPherson Opera House, 214 S. Main St. in McPherson.
The mixed media artist from Lindsborg began making paper out of cotton fabrics after being diagnosed with stage three breast cancer. Davis uses the process to create paper from any plant-based fabric. She cuts up the fabric into small pieces and puts it in a Hollander beater, which turns rags and fibers into pulp for making paper. From there, the substance is pressed and dried into a sheet. The paper can then be used as the base for any work Davis wishes to create, ranging from paintings to journals.
