Lackey, who started on No. 10, opened things up with a quick birdie to go one-under right away.

McPherson's Jacob Lackey tied for eight place overall and sixth place in the boys 16-over division in the 2017 Junior Section Team Championship at the Mariah Hills Golf Course in Dodge City. Lackey shot a final round 76 to finish with a two-day total of 150, eight over par. The West section team, of which Lackey was a member, finished in fifth place with a 951, 45 shots back of the winning South Central team.

During Tuesday's opening round Lackey, who started on No. 10, opened things up with a quick birdie to go one-under right away. But a double bogey on No. 13 put Lackey into plus numbers, where he would remain for the rest of the tournament. Lackey finished day one with bogeys on holes 17, 1, 2, 5 and 7 while picking up birdies on 3, 6 and 8 to finish with a three-over-par 74.

Lackey's final round card on Wednesday saw bogeys on Nos. 4, 5, 9, 12, 15 and 17 with a lone birdie on No. 6. He dominated the par 5s, going 2-under for the tournament but struggled on the par 4s at nine-over and the par 3s, coming in at +1.
