"It was great to see everyone out there supporting our kids."
McPherson head football coach Jace Pavolvich declared the fifth-annual Bullpup Golf tournament a success, as 20, four-person teams played Saturday in the 4-man scramble at Turkey Creek Golf Course to help raise money for the McPherson High School football program. The team of Scott Davis, Matt Sando, Dave Goerzen and Treg Fawl won the tournament championship with an 18-under par 52.
"It was great to see everyone out there supporting our kids," Pavolvich said. "We had a great showing of hole sponsors this year and they were much appreciated. The coaching staff worked hard to put this together to raise money for upcoming costs that stack up through the course of the year. We want our kids outfitted in the best equipment money can buy and this helps us get to that goal."
In all there were 26 hole sponsors from throughout McPherson County. Several of the hole sponsors also had teams participating in the tournament, while many just gave their financial support to the future of the Bullpup football program.
Several McPherson football players manned the prize holes at Turkey Creek that included longest drive, closest-to-the-pin, longest putt and incentives to tee from closer tee-boxes. Breakfast was served before play began, with lunch served after and many prizes, including Bullpup apparel, awarded to the 80 golfers.
