This year they will be holding a combined high school and middle school meeting, eliminating the need for parents to attend two separate meetings if they have athletes at both.
The annual athlete parent meeting for McPherson high school and McPherson middle school is scheduled for August 10 at 6 p.m. in the McPherson high school theater. This meeting covers the details and information that all parents of athletes need to know before their child participates. This year they will be holding a combined high school and middle school meeting, eliminating the need for parents to attend two separate meetings if they have athletes at both.
The meeting will begin with a general session with McPherson high school Activities Director Shane Backhus and McPherson middle school Activities Director Kendra Cooper that all parents of any athlete, regardless of season, should attend. Topics will include student eligibility guidelines, safety and concussion management, substance abuse policy, conflict of interest policy, booster club information, and other Kansas State High School Activities Association and USD 418 guidelines.
The activities directors will also be available to answer any questions parents may have about participating in a school sponsored activity. In addition, there will be Bullpup door prizes for those in attendance and information on discounted family passes to McPherson high school events.
Following the general session, the fall coaches (football, volleyball, cross country, girls' tennis,
boys’ soccer and cheer & dance) of both the high school and middle school will have breakout sessions with parents regarding their upcoming sports seasons, which begin on August 14.
