HUTCHINSON — Edythe H. “Edye” Vibbert, 82, died July 29, 2017, at Pleasant Hills, Hutchinson.

She was born Oct. 20, 1934, in McPherson to Ruben H. and Helen M. (Davis) Gaede. Edye graduated from Little River High School in 1952 and from Salina Beauty School in 1958. She was a retired hairstylist.

On July 22, 1962, she married Donald R. Vibbert in Salina. He died August 10, 2011.

Edye was an active member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, attended circle meetings, and helped with youth club. Edye and Donald enjoyed square dancing together and were State Fair Promenaders.

She was a talented seamstress, who enjoyed sewing and made all of her dresses for the state fair promenades. Eyde was also an excellent cook, baker and avid reader.

Edye is survived by: children, Byron Vibbert of Halstead, Robert “Bob” Vibbert and wife Mary A. of Hutchinson, Debra Hensley of Arlington, Texas, Douglas Vibbert and wife Rozann, Greg Vibbert and wife Alana, all of Hutchinson; step-son, Donnie Maeschen and wife Cheryl of Ethan, South Dakota; sister, Kay Purkapile of DeBerry, Florida; sister-in- law, Linda Gaede of Berthoud, Colorado; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Byron Gaede.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 140 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, with Pastor Tim Carey officiating.

Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. July 31, with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Memorials may be made to Emanuel Lutheran Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
