The McPherson Sentinel recently hired Brooke Haas as a staff writer.

Haas is originally from central Illinois and was raised on a corn and soybean farm. She came to Kansas to attend Kansas State University and graduated in 2017. She comes to the Sentinel from an internship with the Kansas Wheat Commission.

“Coming to Kansas has been the best choice I have ever made. I have made so many new friends and gained so much experience in all aspects of life. I am excited to start this next chapter in my life and am eager to connect with the community of McPherson and write great stories for the McPherson Sentinel,” Haas said.

Haas was raised on a corn and soybean farm in central Illinois and showed Angus cattle competitively across the country for many years. Her family has been in the farming industry for 60 years and she is the fourth generation of her family farm.

After her two years of junior college in Illinois, she came to Kansas in the fall of 2015 to start her journey as a student at Kansas State University. Haas majored in agricultural communications in journalism and has always had a strong passion for writing. Haas now lives in Marion.
