Jakob Feil scored two TD's and a two-point conversion to lead McPherson to victory.

The McPherson High School junior varsity football team defeated Maize South on Monday 26-14 in front of an excited home crowd. Jakob Feil led the Bullpups with two touchdowns and a two-point conversion, scoring 14 points on the night.

Feil opened up the scoring in the first quarter with a 16-yard TD run capped off by a PAT run for two points to put McPherson up 8-0.

Jonah Clark extended Mac's lead in the second quarter with a 2-yard touchdown plunge. His attempt to run the conversion in failed and the Pups led 14-0. Maize South answered with a TD and two-point conversion to narrow the score to 14-8 at the break.

After a scoreless third quarter, Kaleb Hoppes found Riley Koehn on a 12-yard touchdown pass, with Spencer Whitfield's conversion attempt run coming up just short as McPherson stretched the lead to 20-8. Once again Maize South answered with a touchdown but failed on the PAT try, cutting the lead to six at 20-14.

Feil's second touchdown of the night sealed the deal for McPherson, as he sprinted 55 yards to pay dirt. Hoppes pass attempt to Keaton Stockham for the PAT was incomplete and the Bullpups lead was 26-14. The defense held the Mavericks in check the rest of the way to give the Pups the 12-point victory.
