LINDSBORG — It was all smiles on Homecoming night for the Smoky Valley High School football team.

The Vikings improved to 2-1 on the season with a dominating 36-6 win over Haven Friday night in Lindsborg. The Vikings out-gained Haven 353-91 in total yards en route to the 30-point victory.

Kyle Anderson put the Vikings on the board first with a one-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Smoky Valley extended its lead to 22 by halftime, thanks to touchdown runs by Cort Elliott and Tim Lambert.

Lambert scored his second rushing touchdown from 35-yards out to open the second half. Haven finally got on the board with 1:19 left in the third to cut the SVHS lead to 28-6, but quarterback Brett Heitschmidt found Zach Able from 18 yards shortly after to give the Vikings a commanding lead back.

Smoky Valley ran for 303 yards compared to just 60 from Haven. The Vikings also threw for 50 yards, while holding Haven to 31 yards through the air.

The Vikings travel to Hillsboro (1-2) this Friday in their next contest.
