Will continue dual role, coaching Bethel College as well.
WICHITA — Bethel College head football coach Morris Lolar was named to the same position with the Wichita Force on Wednesday, being elevated from his position of defensive coordinator in which he served the past two seasons. Lolar was previously the head coach for the Wichita Wild in 2013, leading them to a 12-2 record and a Indoor Football League championship.
Lolar's new role will have no effect on his current position with Bethel, according to Thresher's Athletic Director Tony Hoops.
"He has communicated directly with the Force that Bethel is and always will come first in priority," stated Hoops. "Based upon the Force's season weekend schedule and morning practice schedule, it will have no effect upon his time spent with Bethel College football. In fact we both feel this can help our football program in many aspects."
Lolar is in his third season at Bethel, sporting a 6-16 overall record. He is a two-time All-American defensive back at Friends University and All-City player at Wichita South High School. He played in the Canadian Football League, winning the Grey Cup in 1993.
Bethel is currently 0-2 on the season, losing its opening game to Dordt 44-10 and its Kansas College Athletic Conference opener to Tabor College 53-0. They host Bethany College on Saturday, who comes in at 2-0 after a win over McPherson College on Sunday 57-43.
