Though the Omega Project Women’s Center is still under construction, the ministry is already going strong.
The McPherson-based ministry works with individuals experiencing different forms of dysfunction in their lives.
"Most of the residents of the Omega Project needed changes to get their life back on track," explained David Case, director of the Omega Project.
The Omega Project originally served only men, but now the project is expanding to serve women by adding the Phoenix House and the Women’s Center when construction is complete.
Housing is provided through the project for participants, along with transportation to work and other needs so individuals can focus on improvement.
“With the proximity to the new Women’s Center, and the numbers of applicants, the (Phoenix) house would be needed for ministry to women in the McPherson area,” Case said.
The Phoenix House began in the 1990s when Wayne Cunningham wanted to start a home for drug addicts and alcoholics.
The house owned by the First Christian Church later became known as the Phoenix House.
