IOWA CITY, Iowa — McPherson had three girls travel to Iowa University last weekend to participate on the Kansas Girls National Wrestling Team.  Mya Kretzer, Haley Schafer, and Kaleigh Marbut competed Saturday in the Conflict at Carver which is an individual tournament, then on Sunday in the Midwest Mat of Dreams Dual Tournament.

Mya Kretzer (ranked No. 4 in the nation) was the champion of a tough 127lb bracket on Saturday, featuring multiple All-American wrestlers. Schafer and Marbut competed well but didn't place. There were 11 Kansas girls competing with over 200 girls in the field of the preseason individual tournament. Of the 10 weight classes, Kansas had three champions and five placers total.

The three McPherson girls wrestled 25 combined matches in the two days of competition.
