The McPherson City Commission is committed to support eight street projects focused on neighborhood streets.

The projects were identified in a survey conducted by the Public Works Department from July 17 to Oct. 1. While projects are generally selected based on the Cost Benefit Factor formula, recent evaluation also included surveying local residents.

Selected projects represent the top two priorities as identified by residents living in each quadrant. Street repairs in the Northeast Quadrant will include Hulse Street (from Main Street to North High Drive) and East Northview Road (Main Street to North High Drive).

Work in the Northwest Quadrant will include west Northview Road (Highway 81 Bypass to Main Street) and Walnut Drive (Northview Road to Main Street).

Projects in the Southwest Quadrant will include Hickory Street (Lincoln Street to Hayes Street) and Skancke Street (Chestnut Street to the Railroad Crossing).

Southeast Quadrant projects will include south Front Street (Centennial Drive to Champlin Road) and South Hartup Street (Elizabeth Street to Avenue A).

All projects are contingent on the approval of the half-cent sales tax renewal or identifying another funding source. The half-cent sales tax renewal question will appear on the Nov.7 ballot.
