Matt 37-12

Gallagher 31-18

There weren’t any major surprises in the Big 12 last week. Both Matt and Gallagher went 4-1 with Matt missing on Texas Tech at West Virginia and Gallagher picking wrong on an upset pick of Kansas State over TCU. This week looks to be pretty straightforward again, with the Sentinel sports staff seeing eye-to-eye on four of the five games. When things look simple in college football, chaos reigns supreme.

No. 10 Oklahoma State at Texas

Gallagher- Whichever team loses this game is pretty much eliminated from the Big 12 championship. Oklahoma State has a four game winning streak in Austin; I think the Cowboys extend it to five. 38-27 OSU

Matt- I still think Oklahoma State wins the Big 12 and Texas will not spoil that. 35-31 OSU

Iowa State at Texas Tech

Gallagher- Both teams are off to surprising 4-2 starts. If this game was in Ames, I might swing toward the Cyclones. But it’s not, so I’ll take Tech in a close one. 44-38 TTU

Matt- Texas Tech gets back on track with lots of offense against Iowa State. 56-36 TTU

No. 9 Oklahoma at Kansas State

Gallagher- This will be a good test for Oklahoma. I know Kansas State looks pretty dismal right now, but the Wildcats have the defense to keep this game close. However, the offense is non-existent right now, so I’ll take Oklahoma. 30-21 OU

Matt- Kansas State just doesn’t have it this year while Boomer Sooners do. 37-24 OU

No. 23 West Virginia at Baylor

Gallagher- Anyone else smell an upset? Baylor, with the exception of last week’s blowout loss to Oklahoma State, has been competitive in the Big 12 thus far. Last time the Bears had a primetime game at home, they almost beat Oklahoma. Watch out West Virginia. 38-34 Baylor

Matt- West Virginia is a better team. Whether they play better Saturday remains to be seen but, I take ‘em. 42-34 WVU

Kansas at No. 4 TCU

Gallagher- Here’s an interesting stat: TCU is 5-0 against Kansas since joining the Big 12, with an average margin of victory of seven points. The last three years have been decided by a touchdown or less. Kansas could very well play TCU close, but I’m still taking the Frogs. 33-23 TCU

Matt- TCU continues to roll and won’t overlook the Jayhawks. 38-31 TCU
