MOUNDRIDGE- Aletha “Gay” Dugan was born on July 18, 1937 to Mildred V. White and Calvin L. Smith in Halstead. Gay married Melvin Dean Dugan on March 14th, 1953 in Moundridge. She passed away the morning of Oct. 22 in Wichita after a courageous fight with heart disease.

She is survived by her children, Steve (Trudy) Dugan, Lonnie (Christie) Dugan, and DeLonna (Ron) Coleman; grandchildren Chris (Mylissa) Dugan, Rebecca (Jeff) Dazey, Amy (Jason) Bedient, Sarah Coleman, Calvin (Madison) Dugan, Lauren (Micah) Coleman-Tempel, and Creighton Coleman; great-grandchildren Jozie, Grey, Jacob, Brennan and Violet; brothers Max Smith, Robert Smith and Fred Smith; and countless nieces, nephews and beloved friends.

Whether it was through her professional service or at home, Gay was a hard worker. She actively served her community by volunteering. She was a member of VFW Auxiliary and The Red Hat Society.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25 at Moundridge Funeral Home, with family receiving visitors from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26 at West Zion Mennonite Church, 101 S. Washington Ave., Moundridge.

Memorials in memory of Gay, may be made to the VFW Auxiliary Post 2715 in care of The Moundridge Funeral Home.
