WICHITA — Nine McPherson Aqua Pups competed at the Legends Invitational, hosted by the Wichita Swim Club, over the weekend.
The Aqua Pups faced some steep competition, but head coach Kyle Banman says his team was up for the challenge.
“The meet featured teams from all over the state, as well as a couple from Oklahoma, so the competition level was the highest we have seen so far this season,” Banman said. “It was really like that feeling of being a small fish in a really big pond, but it didn’t seem to phase our swimmers at all.”
Here are the results, according to Banman.
•Gracie Bohnenblust (8) - Competed in her first ever meet, with a top finish of 12th in the 25 Fly. She also raced the 25 Free and 50 Back.
•Rachel Fischer (8) - Placed in the top eight in all four of her events: third on 25 Fly, second on 50 Breast, fifth on 50 Back, and third on 100 IM.
•Arriana Gross (13) - Wwam the 200 Freestyle for the first time.
•Justus Hampton (16) - In a tune up for high school season, competed in the 200 Back (top finish of 11th), 200 Breast, and 200 Free.
