Hazel M. Kramer, 98, of McPherson, passed away at 6:32 p.m. Nov. 3, 2017 while in the company of family members, at McPherson Hospital.
Hazel was born in McPherson County on May 10, 1919, a daughter of Mildred (Freeburg) and Virgil Hill.
She attended Prairie View Country and Elmdale Country Schools west of McPherson and graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson in 1937.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church McPherson where she was a member of the WELCA and Naomi Guild.
Hazel was a homemaker and she took great-pride in providing for her family in this manner. She worked at Farmers Alliance Ins. Co., McPherson. She was a member of the Farmers Alliance Retirees.
Hazel’s family was of the utmost importance to her. She was a great cook, and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and counted cross stitch and Sunday dinners at her house with card games to follow after the dishes were done.
Hazel Mae Hill was united in marriage to Clifford B. Kramer on May 25, 1941 at the Elim Lutheran Church, Marquette. He died on Dec. 2, 2000.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Marsha Kramer, of McPherson; her granddaughters, Barbara Swanson and her husband Scott, of McPherson and Michelle Gearhart, of Moundridge; her nine great-grandchildren, Morgan Sawatzky-Arendt and her husband Anthony, of McPherson, Zachary Sawatzky, of McPherson, Jessica Schwaiger and her husband Mike, of Bennington, Amber Gearhart, of McPherson, Brandon Gearhart, of Moundridge, Karmi Koehl of Peoria, Illinois, Travis Swanson and his wife Carly, of Franklin, Tennessee, Trent Swanson and his wife Shanda, of McPherson, and Tucker Swanson and his partner Ross, of Kansas City, Missouri; her 10 great-great-grandchildren; her step-sister, Fay Lindholm, of Lindsborg; other relatives and a host of friends.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Mildred Hill; her son Darrell Kramer; sister, June Patton; brother, Howard Hill; step-father Gust Lindholm; and step-brothers, Archie and Victor Lindholm.
At the family’s request there will be no visitation
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9 at Glidden - Ediger Chapel, McPherson with the Rev. Richard Munson officiating.
Private family burial will be at the McPherson Cemetery, McPherson.
