CONCORDIA — Edna Mae (Liby) Ryals, 99, entered into rest on Nov. 7, 2017, at McPherson Hospital in McPherson. She was born on May 4, 1918 in Concordia to Roy E. and Maud (Suprenant) Spratlen.
Edna was a 1936 graduate of Concordia High School. On Oct. 9, 1937 she married Carl E. Liby in Clay Center at the Presbyterian church. She was a head cook for the McPherson Country Club and Elks Lodge also the Beloit Country Club and Elks Lodge.
She was a member of the First Christian Church, Glasco, Kansas, VFW Auxiliary lifetime member and Red Hats Society. She enjoyed reading, traveling, crocheting, baking wedding cakes, sewing and most of all, cooking.
She is survived by her daughter, Helen Skipworth, Atwood.; son, Eugene Liby (partner Jennifer), McPherson; daughter, Alice Dietz (Dan), Glasco, Kansas; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Norma Albers; sisters, Mary Chartier, Alberta Spratlen, Bertha Goens, Myra Goens; brother, Jim Spratlen and his wife Ruth and two granddaughters, Dana and Angela.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 12 with the family greeting friends from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 13 at the funeral home, Concordia. Pastor Bob Burns will be officiating.
Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia.
Memorial contributions may be given to VFW in Glasco, Kansas in care of Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.
