Regardless of what happens this Saturday, Oklahoma will play for a Big 12 championship. Who the Sooners will play still remains to be determined. TCU is in the best position to advance to the conference championship. Beat lowly Baylor, and TCU is in. Lose, and the Frogs still have a shot, but it opens the door for chaos.
Iowa State still has the slightest of chances. If TCU loses, the Cyclones need to take care of business against Kansas State, along with an Oklahoma win over West Virginia and Texas Tech must beat Texas. If all of that happens, Iowa State will face Oklahoma. It’s a long shot, but the Cyclones are still in contention during the final week of the season.
With two weeks of football left and a five-game lead, Matt has a good chance to close out Gallagher and finish the season with a better record.
Baylor at No. 12 TCU
Gallagher- All TCU has to do is beat one-win Baylor and the Frogs will play for a Big 12 championship. It would be pretty surprising if they blew this chance. 40-24 TCU
Matt- I made some pics earlier on to make things interesting. Today it is about getting that average up. Should be a cake-walk in this one. 31-17 TCU
Kansas at No. 19 Oklahoma State
Gallagher- What do both of these schools have in common? They’re both ready for basketball season. Oklahoma State wins this game to the surprise of no one. 42-7 OSU
Matt- It is the Beatty farewell game but the Cowboys are playing mad. 55-20 OSU
No. 4 Oklahoma at West Virginia
Gallagher- Without quarterback Will Grier, people are saying West Virginia doesn’t stand a chance against OU. And while that may be true, I think it will fire up the Mountaineers to play hard on senior day. OU still gets the win as they have too much to lose. 37-27 OU
Matt- Oklahoma without their starter in Morgantown? He won’t miss much action and OU will continue to roll. 38-31 OU
Texas Tech at Texas
Gallagher- Texas Tech is still fighting for bowl eligibility while Texas, at 6-5, doesn’t have a whole lot to play for. Texas is the better team and has a history of beating up on Tech. If the Longhorns come to play, they should get the victory. 27-24 Texas
Matt- Tech will be saying goodbye to their coach, too. 31-28 Texas
Iowa State at Kansas State
Gallagher- This is the biggest toss-up game of the conference this week. Iowa State looked bad and Kansas State looked good last week, and the home field certainly give the Wildcats an advantage. However, I’ll take Iowa State in a defensive battle because they still have the slightest of chances to reach the title game. ISU 20-16
Matt- Bill Snyder’s last regular-season game as Wildcats top man. Got to go with him and the Cats. 38-33 K-State
No. 1 Alabama at No. 6 Auburn
Gallagher- This game smells like trouble. Auburn really seems primed for the upset here, and we all remember the 2013 game. But ‘Bama is the safest pick in college football, so I’ll roll with the Tide. 31-27 Alabama
Matt- Might as well make things interesting and go with the Tigers, especially at home. Upset special 34-30 Auburn
