CANTON --- This year’s Canton-Galva High school girl’s basketball team features one returning starter and two seniors on the entire roster. While the Eagles may go through some growing pains this season, a good mixture of juniors, sophomores, and freshmen will be getting great experience for the future.

Senior Taylor Everett is the only player on the team with starting experience, and thus will be looked upon as a leader for this young team. Senior Maddie Snow, who did not play last year, will also have a hand in leading the team.

Juniors Katie Fiedler and Kaysha Unruh, and sophomore Tia Moddelmog, are among those who head coach Dean Scott is keen on.

“We will be a very young team relying on returners and young players to step up,” Scott said.

The Eagles will also be without a 6-footer on the roster.

“We’re going to play good defense,” Scott said. “We’re going to have to block people out and score in transition.”

Canton-Galva begins its season on Dec. 1 when they host Rural Vista.
