EL DORADO — Neither McPherson High School basketball team was caught looking ahead to a massive schedule next week.
The Bullpups will host Derby on Tuesday before traveling to Kansas City on Friday for state championship rematches with Bishop Miege. But before the Bullpups could shift their attention toward next week, they needed to take care of business against El Dorado.
Both teams did just that.
The girls received 31 points from Taylor Robertson in a 95-24 blowout win. McPherson led by 44 points at halftime and held El Dorado to only seven points in the second half. Riley Hett chipped in with 16 points as 11 Bullpups scored in total.
The boys were led by Ben Pyle’s 24 points along with 20 points from Mason Alexander. Jake Alexander also had 14 points to aid the offense.
The Bullpups led by 11 after the first quarter and outscored El Dorado 23-9 in the second quarter to take a 44-19 halftime lead. The Bullpups kept the gas on the petal for all four quarters in an 82-38 win.
McPherson will be at home for the first time this season on Tuesday when Derby comes to town. The girls are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. followed shortly by the boys.
