TOWANDA —Starting the contest with an 11-2 run, the McPherson Bullpups cruised to an 80-44 victory over Circle in Towanda Friday night.

Bolstered by 6-8 swingman Ben Pyle’s near triple double (18 points, eight rebounds and nine assists), McPherson led 24-10 at the end of the first quarter and 43-24 at the intermission. Circle had narrowed the 14-point end of the first quarter margin to nine at 26-17 with 5:33 left in the second, but fell victim to a 17-7 end of the first half Bullpups run.

Circle allowed 30 McPherson points in the third. The fourth quarter started with a 73-38 McPherson lead.

Circle finished with two players in double figures. Junior Jude Warren led Circle with 14 points, five rebounds and two assists. Senior Dylan Meier added 11 points and two boards. Sophomore Gunner Hutson scrapped for eight points, five rebounds and an assist. Also scoring for Circle: Lane Coulter four points; Cole Allison, Ben Chaplin, Eli Jacobson two points; John Hetherington one point.

Four players ended the contest in double figures for McPherson including Pyle (18), Jake Alexander (16 points, three rebounds, one assist), Mason Alexander (19 points, four assists, one rebound) and Jayse Alexander (10 points). Also scoring for McPherson: Thomas Diggs, Gabe Hoover and Kyler Hoppes three points; Cooper Courtney, Aren Trost, Drew Labertew, Cody Stufflebean two points.

Circle, 0-4 in ACTVL DIII and 2-5 overall, travels to Winfield Tuesday. McPherson, 4-0 in league and 7-1 overall, hosts Augusta Tuesday.
