CANTON — Maxine D. Vogts, 90, of Canton, died Jan. 7, 2018 at Pine Village, Moundridge after a brief illness. She was a beautician; longtime owner of Maxine’s Beauty Shoppe in Canton and a homemaker.

She was born on Sept. 2, 1927 in rural Canton, the daughter of Emil and Bertha (Lehner) Schlicht. On Oct. 5, 1952, she married Roland W. Vogts in Canton. He preceded her in death on May 2, 2000.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Canton, LWML, recently retired church organist, the Canton American Legion Auxiliary where she served in many capacities and the Canton Senior Center Board of Directors.

Survivors include three sons, Stuart (Sue), Galva and Steven (Karen) and Stacy (Brenda), all of Canton; daughter, Sandra (Loren) Schmidt, Canton; sister, Carol Jean Friend, McPherson; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. A brother, Harold Schlicht, preceded her in death.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Canton. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11 at Olson’s Mortuary, Canton.

Memorials have been established with the church, or the Canton Senior Center, in care of the mortuary.
