1. Read a magazine

The Great Magazine Giveaway will start at 9 a.m. Jan. 13 at McPherson Public Library, 214 W. Marlin in the library meeting room.

Back issues of approximately 150 magazine subscriptions from 2015 have been pulled and will be available for the taking throughout the weekend. Some of this year’s giveaway includes children, teen and parenting magazines.

2. Passion for Service

The McPherson Chamber of Commerce is hosting a customer service workshop “A Passion for Service” presented by Bill Drury.

Drury, a renowned customer service expert, was the National Training Consultant for the Zig Ziglar Corporation. Two identical presentations offered from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m. on Jan. 23 at McPherson Museum, 1111 E. Kansas Ave., and seating is limited.

3. Learn a song

“World War I — 100th Anniversary Songs” will be presented at 3 p.m. Jan. 23 at The Cedars Wellness/Conference Center, 1021 Cedars Drive.

Tom Nelson, former teacher and missionary to Japan, Slovakia and Malaysia, will be speaking about songs from the World War I era and giving their historical background. Come enjoy singing these special tunes as Nelson plays the piano and shares the songs’ back stories.
