The next regular meeting of the Canton City Council will be at 6 p.m. Feb. 7 at the Canton City Hall, 100 S. Main St. in Canton.
The next regular meeting of the Galva City Council will be at 7 p.m. on Feb. 5 at the Galva City Hall, 208 S. Main St.
The Inman City Council met Jan. 8, 2018, at the Inman City Office for its regular meeting.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Jim Toews at 7:30 p.m. followed by the pledge of allegiance. In attendance were: Don Froese; Darin Pote; Devin Schierling; Scott Schriner; and Ruth Sisson. A quorum was present. Others in attendance: Danny Parr; Bobby Herron; Zach Davidson; Dennis Schroeder; Bob Ratzlaff and Barbara Tuxhorn.
Mayor Jim Toews presented Ruth Sisson with a plaque for her almost nine years of service. Dennis Schroeder and Don Froese, council members, and Toews were sworn in to their recently elected positions.
After questions were answered, Darin Pote motioned to approve Appropriation Ordinance 2017-12 for December checks 14134 through 14168 and Appropriation Ordinance 2018-01 for January checks 14169 through 14207. Devin Schierling motioned to approve 44 utility adjustments and an interfund transfer.
The new city website will be unveiled at next month’s Economic Development meeting and Zach Davidson will present information at the special council meeting on Jan. 18.
Bobby Herron advised that Ramirez will go to training in Oklahoma this month. The department will address the structural problems at the mill. Some radios may need to be replaced soon. He answered fixed assets questions.
A manhole was located about 80 feet east of the compost entrance gate on the north side of the road, approximately 22 inches below ground level. There is an opportunity to obtain a large quantity (approximately 60 dump trucks) of broken concrete. It could be crushed for street sub-base use. Danny Parr will obtain more information. Waxed boxes (primarily from cold food transportation) should not be placed in any recycle container as it endangers the future of our cardboard recycling program.
Jeff Regehr was reappointed to the Planning Commission, term ending Dec. 31, 2020. There will be a zoning and vacation hearing on Jan. 15 regarding 503 Evergreen.
Froese motioned to approve Resolution 2018-01, waiving the GAAP requirement of KSA 75-1120a(a) as it applies to the city’s financial statements ending 12/31/2017. Froese motioned to approve Ordinance 548 changing the council’s meeting time to 7 p.m. (same day of the month).
Schierling motioned to designate the city clerk as the 101-3 non-attest person qualified to prepare the 2017 financial statements. Notice regarding the park trail grant application is expected this week. The number of utility customers signed up for email billing (receiving a $10 billing discount) is 143 to date. Pote motioned to approve a $20,000 Moderate Income Housing grant for Whitney and Jerod Larson to build a house at 605 Harvest Hills.
A possible splash pad was discussed. Schierling will bring some information next month regarding pricing.
There will be three community meetings sponsored by the Inman Community Foundation on Feb. 1. The Inman Senior Center will host one at 12:30 p.m. and two will be held at Inman Elementary School at 4:30 and 7 p.m. with childcare provided. The meetings will to gather public input regarding the strengths and needs of the community.
The next regular meeting of the Inman City Council will be at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 12. There will be a special meeting at 7 p.m. on Jan. 18.
The next regular meeting of the Lindsborg City Council will be at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 15 in the Council Chamber of Lindsborg City Hall, 101 S. Main St. in Lindsborg.
The next regular meeting of the Marquette City Council will be at 7 p.m. Feb. 13 at the Marquette City Hall, 113 N. Washington St. in Marquette.
McPherson City Commission
The next regular meeting of the McPherson City Commission will be at 8:30 a.m. Jan. 16 in the Municipal Center, 400 E. Kansas Ave. in McPherson.
McPherson County Commission
The next regular meeting of the McPherson County Commission will be at 9 a.m. Jan. 16 in the fifth floor Conference Room of the First Bank of Kansas Building, 122 W. Marlin St. in McPherson.
The McPherson Board of Public Utilities will meet at 3 p.m. Jan. 8 at the BPU office, 401 W. Kansas Ave. in McPherson.
The next regular meeting of the McPherson Recreation Commission will be at noon on Feb. 8 at Tres Amigos. The annual YMCA-MRC meeting will be at noon on Jan. 23 at the McPherson Museum.
The next regular meeting of the Moundridge City Council will be at 5:45 p.m. Feb. 5 at 225 S. Christian St. in Moundridge.
New Gottland Township
The next regular meeting of the New Gottland Township Council will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 6 at the New Gottland Lutheran Church at 1822 17th Ave.
King City Township
The King City Township board will meet at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 16 at Pizza Hut, 2215 E. Kansas Ave. in McPherson. The public is invited to attend.
