The McPherson Black Belt Academy is hosting two events this month. Both will be taught by Master Rex Willems, sixth degree black belt and Master Instructor, at McPherson Black Belt Academy, 114 S. Main St. in McPherson.
A women’s self-defense seminar will be taught from 6 to 8 p.m. on Jan. 19. Cost is $20 in advance or $30 at the door. The seminar is open to the public for women ages 13 and up. Topics covered include survival awareness, developing a prevention mindset and self-defense techniques from PPCT, Jiu-Jitsu and Krav Maga.
The Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Camp will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. on Jan. 20. Gracie Combatives will be taught for both youth and adults. Cost is $40 in advance or $50 at the door. If you liked the Gracie Games, you will love the self-defense taught in the combatives. This course is designed to defend against all the most common attacks in a street fight.
