Since 1998 a group has met on the first Friday of the month to share books. While the meeting locations and faces have had some changes, the love of reading has been constant.

The group calls itself the "First Friday Book Club". It meets at 9 a.m. on the first Fridays of February through December in the meeting room of the McPherson Library. A reading list for the year is prepared from suggestions by those participating. The list includes a biography, a nonfiction and a Kansas author. All books selected are available at the library.

The discussion leader is the person who recommended each book. This group enjoys making new friends and welcomes anyone who shares a love of reading.

Even if you have not had time to read the book, you are welcome to the discussion.

The book selected for Feb. 2 is "Mrs. Lincoln's Dressmaker" by Jennifer Chiaverini; Mar. 2 "Hillbilly Elegy" by J. D. Vance; April 6 "Faithful" by Alice Hoffman; May 4 "Before We Were Yours" by Lisa Wingate. For the complete book list for 2018, come to the meeting Feb. 2.
