The Elyria Christian School boys basketball team rolled over Peabody-Burns, 58-30, by riding the hot shooting of Tyler Thiessen and Aidan Fields, while eight Eagles put at least one point in the scorebook.

Thiessen led the Eagles by hitting 9-of-12 shots from the field for 21 points, and hitting a double-double by also pulling down 12 rebounds. Fields was almost as hot, hitting 6-of-10 shots from the field and ending up with 17 points.

“Tonight was a good game for us,” noted Eagle boys Head Coach Zac Goodrich. “We were able to work on some different looks in our rotation and half-court offense. The ball was moving and we were able to see a few shots go in from different guys that have not been shooting it as well.”

The Eagles jumped out to a 21-6 first quarter advantage and never looked back by taking a 38-15 halftime lead on their way to the 28-point victory.

In concluding his coach reflections, Goodrich added, “We still have plenty to learn as we begin this final stretch of games, but I do feel we did take a stop forward tonight. We have a game Friday and we need to be prepared for and make sure we continue to get better each game.”

Next up the for the Eagle basketball teams will be homecoming on Friday against Canton/Galva.
