On Feb. 1, at 3:21 p.m., a McPherson Patrol Officer attempted to stop a red Pontiac Grand Prix in the 1300 Block of North Main Street in McPherson after the Officer observed the Grand Prix driving recklessly, nearly striking other vehicles on the roadway. The driver of the Grand Prix, who was later identified as a 32-year-old male, fled in the Grand Prix from the Officer.
The Officer pursued the Grand Prix, and additional Law Enforcement Officers from the McPherson Police Department, McPherson County Sheriff’s Office, and Kansas Highway Patrol assisted in the pursuit, which left the City of McPherson into the County.
Officers maintained sight of the Grand Prix during the pursuit, which continued southwest of McPherson, and then eventually northeast back into the City. At 3:57 p.m., the driver stopped on West Northview Road and the pursuit ended. Officers arrested the male without further incident and transported him to the McPherson County Jail. Charges against the male are pending.
No one was injured in the pursuit and only minor damage was caused to one McPherson County Sheriff’s Office vehicle during the pursuit.
