It was a good night for the Canton-Galva boys and girls basketball teams on Tuesday as they swept a pair of games from Peabody-Burns, with the Eagle boys winning a close one 70-67, while the Lady Eagles rolled to a 65-13 victory.
The Eagle basketball teams will be back in action on Friday at Herington.
In the Eagles boys game, Canton/Galva trailed after one quarter by a bucket, but they took a one-point advantage into the halftime break. The Eagles then pulled out to a five-point lead in the third and then hung on for the slim three-point victory.
Sophomore Nick Pearson led the Eagle offensive attack with 20 points, while sophomore Kinzer Colgin added 13, freshman Brayden Collins dropped in 12 and senior Jonah Sargent chipped in for 10 as Canton/Galva showed a solid balance in the scoring.
The Lady Eagles rolled to a 52-point victory by jumping out to a 19-point, 31-12, halftime lead before holding Peabody-Burns to just a single point in the final two quarters of the game.
While the defense held Peabody-Burns to just two field goals in the entire game, the Lady Eagles offense was led by sophomore Tia Moddlemog who knocked down 25 points, while Kaysha Unruh also reach double digits in the scorebook with 13 as eight Lady Eagles put at least two points on the scoreboard.
