Robert “Bob” E. Lewis left this life and his family on Feb. 11, 2018 and is now in the presence of God.

Bob, was born on Jan. 29, 1954, and was the first born in the household of Katie and Bill Lewis. Bob spent his early years in Salina. In those years, Bob became the eldest of two more siblings: Dianne and Brad. In grade school, he was a Boy Scout and an alter boy.

Bob and family moved to McPherson when Bob was in sixth grade. He loved his high school years and was active in sports, music and theater.

He and a few good friends and formed the band Tequila Jam in the late 1970s and toured Kansas playing rock and roll. Bob was the lead singer. In 1979, he met Jo A. Miller and they fell in love and married soon after. Bob and Jo shared a daughter, Rebecca Amy Lewis.

In the late 1980s, Bob found a passion for cooking. He became the chef at the Swedish Crown in Lindsborg and worked for Mark and Lisa Speers and the community of Lindsborg as a beloved head chef from 1988 to 2004.

During his time at Lindsborg, he won many awards for his dishes. He cherished his customers and employees and he created many fond memories.

Bob also loved fishing and camping with his family. Many, many weekends and summers were spent at Kanopolis Lake, enjoying the outdoors and creating more cherished memories.

In 2001, his first grandson entered the world and everything took on new meaning for Bob. He was the already the best dad and husband ever and suddenly he entered the championship for grandpas, and undoubtedly won.

Following the birth of his first grandson Aiden, came two more boys, Jace and Elijah. The boys were everything to Bob and likewise for the boys. In his later years, he loved caring for them, his daughter and spending time with his father, Bill Lewis.

For the past few years, Bob resided at McPherson Health and Rehab and was loved dearly by all of the staff there.

Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Katie Lewis and father, Bill Lewis and youngest brother Brad Lewis and brother-in-law Steve Miller.

He is survived by his wife Jo Lewis, daughter Rebecca Lewis-Pankratz, son-in-law Jesse Pankratz, and grandsons Aiden Lewis, Jace Grosse and Elijah Lewis, sister Dianne (Lewis) Cox, brother-in-law Brownie Cox, sister-in-law Shannon Lewis and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Bob’s service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24 at the First United Methodist Church in McPherson.
