The Canton-Galva High School girls basketball team closed out their 2017-18 season on Monday evening with a 52-32 loss to Goessel in the Class 2A Sub-State Basketball Tournament at Hillsboro.

With the loss, the Lady Eagles finish the season with a 9-11 mark, while playing with a very young team that listed three freshmen and eight sophomores on a roster of just 13 players.

Goessel took an early 6-point lead at the end of the first quarter before doubling it to a 12-point advantage at 30-18 going into the halftime break. While Goessel outscored the Lady Eagles by eight in the third, Canton-Galva was unable to make up the disadvantage and took the final 20-point defeat.

Freshman Alexa Bell led the Lady Eagles with 12 points as just five players put points in the scorebook.

The lone Lady Eagle senior, Taylor Everett closed out her career by chipping in six.
