NRCS will be conducting a Kansas Organic Workshop on March 21 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Prairieland Partners, 2401 E. Northview Road, in McPherson. The meeting is free and open to the public. A catered lunch is available for $10 per person, or participants may bring a sack lunch.
Organic farming is one of the fastest growing segments of agriculture. Topics covered at this workshop include organic system overview, the organic certification process, soil health and fertility, organic livestock, marketing organic products and financial opportunities for organic farmers.
Featured speakers include Ben Bowell, Oregon Tilth Organic Education Specialist, Candy J. Thomas, NRCS Regional Soil Health Specialist, Mark A. Janzen, NRCS Natural Resource Specialist, and representatives from the Kansas Organic Producers Association.
