WICHITA — The McPherson College women's tennis team opened Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference play Wednesday afternoon with 6-3 victory over Friends University.

The Bulldogs (1-1, 1-0 KCAC) dominated the six matches that were contested, taking a 2-1 lead after doubles as Brittany Zipf and Besa Bwalya posted an 8-0 win over Amanda Zavala and Ariel Williams at No. 1 doubles and Zoë Bouwmeester and Deiah Curtis similarly shut out Issabella Smith and Courtney Temen at No. 2 doubles.

In singles play, Zipf defeated Zavala at No.1 and Bouwmeester topped Abigail Thibodeau at No. 3 without dropping a game, while Bwalya defeated Smith, 6-1, 6-0, at the No. 2 spot. Curtis posted a 6-1, 7-5 win over Madeline Watson at No. 4 singles.

The Falcons accepted forfeit victories at No. 3 doubles, No. 5 singles and No. 6 singles.

McPherson returns to the courts Saturday when they face Kansas Wesleyan University. First serve is set for 9 a.m. at the Salina Central High School courts.
