INMAN — Betty Jane Martens, 86, of Inman, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2018, surrounded by family at Pleasant View Home in Inman.
Betty was born on May 12, 1931, in Goessel, the daughter of Freeman and Mary (Becker) Giesel.
She graduated from Grace Hospital School of Nursing in Hutchinson. She was a homemaker and worked as a registered nurse at Mercy Hospital and Pleasant View Home.
Betty was united in marriage to Robert W. Martens on Sept. 12, 1975, in Moundridge.
She was a member of Zion Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, rural Inman.
Survivors include: her husband, Robert of the home; son, Duane (Gayla) Martens of Inman; two daughters, Shirley Penner of Inman, and Connie (Kevin) Koehn of Mayfield, Kentucky; brothers, Lee (Mary) Giesel of Wisconsin and Willard Giesel of Moundridge; sister, Arlene (Willis) Koehn of Moundridge; sister-in-law, Edna Giesel of Burns; nine grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Stanley Giesel, sister-in-law Wilma Giesel, and son-in-law Arden Penner.
The visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, April 6 at Zion Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, rural Inman, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 7 at Zion Church of God in Christ, Mennonite with Ministers Gregg Johnson and Maynard Koehn officiating.
Burial will follow at Zion Church Cemetery.
