Doug Bengtson, proud son of Norman and Ingrid Bengtson, died at no other place than he wanted to be, on the family farm, on April 22, 2018. He was a long time resident of Lindsborg. Born Nov. 1, 1955, he is survived by his sister Deborah “Angel” Bengtson Koelling and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
On Dec. 7, 1991, Doug received a certificate of appreciation from the City of Lindsborg to acknowledge his civil service to the betterment of the entire Lindsborg community. Doug served his community as a school bus driver, as an EMT, and as a police officer for over 25 years and was highly decorated for his years of service. Upon the death of his father, Doug retired and supported his mother by helping her run the farm.
Doug loved his friends. You all know who you are. Come celebrate his life. It will start at the Elmwood Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 19 to spread his ashes by his mother’s gravesite. We will then congregate at his sister’s house at 301 S. Washington in Lindsborg immediately following. Come see his legacy, come celebrate his life and share his heritage.
