Donald A. Chlumsky, 84, of McPherson, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2018, surrounded by family at Schowalter Villa, Hesston. He worked for 40 years at NCRA Refinery as a boiler operator and also served on the fire brigade.
Don was born on Dec. 4, 1933, in Bison, the son of Ralph C. and Selma L. (Schwindt) Chlumsky. Don was united in marriage to Carol Lee Spencer on April 30, 1955, in McPherson. She preceded him in death on Dec. 17, 2015.
He served eight years in the Army National Guard and was a member of American Legion Post #24. He was also a member of the First Christian Church, McPherson.
Survivors include: son, Eldon Chlumsky and wife, Annette, of Wichita; daughter, Melissa Tipton and husband, Mark, of McPherson; four grandchildren, Josh Tipton (Elizabeth) of Topeka, Christopher Chlumsky (Jen) of Salina, Katharina Weiler (Jay) of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Clinton Chlumsky (Katie) of Wichita; five great-grandchildren, Vivienne, Oliver, and Ellis Chlumsky of Salina, KS and Bella and Lily Tipton of Topeka; sister, Aletha Marie Rohr of Overland Park; and many nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m., Sunday, June 3, 2018, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 3 to 5 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, June 4, at the First Christian Church with Rev. Lynn Scott and Rev. Tom Mayse officiating.
A private burial will be held at McPherson Cemetery.
