Dixie Lou Ingram, 76, recently of Brookdale Senior living in McPherson, passed away at 6:55 p.m., June 23, 2018 peacefully, at Pleasant View Home, Inman.

She was born in Hillsboro, on Dec. 22, 1941, a daughter of LuElla (Meljo) and David Seitz.

She loved her parents and brothers greatly. As a child, her parents had to buy two of the exact same toy, same color, so she and Floyd wouldn’t argue. She laughed about that.

She attended Hillsboro Elementary School and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1959.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where she was baptized and married.

Dixie loved teaching Sunday school, and did so for many years at the Galva United Methodist Church, Galva.

She was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner.

She baby-sat for several years prior to working for Sterling Drug, McPherson, until she retired in 2002. Her babysitting kids’ families became a part of her own family too and she remained friends with them all for a long after the kids were grown.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, camping, fishing and gardening with her husband Kenneth. She and Ken attended every sports event their grandkids participated in and loved every minute. Her dog, Lacey was like a furry daughter to them and they loved her so.

She was an excellent cook, especially baker. She loved to bake a checker board layer cake for each family member’s birthday and bring it to the restaurant while celebrating.

Dixie Lou Seitz was united in marriage to Kenneth Clair Ingram on June 5, 1959 at Zion Lutheran Church, Hillsboro.

The young couple established their first home together in Newton. This union was blessed with the birth of a daughter, Rhonda.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Ken Ingram, McPherson; her daughter Rhonda Koehn and husband, Jim, of Galva; her brothers Robert Seitz, Bethany, Oklahoma, and Floyd Seitz and wife, Evelyn, of Morgan Hill, California; her grandchildren Leah Inman, Megan Howard and husband, RA, and Bo Koehn and wife, Kendra; great-grandchildren Tytan Howard, Xander Howard, Jaxson Inman and Noelle Inman; a nieces and several nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. She loved her family with all her heart.

Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at Empire Cemetery, rural Galva, with Pastor Phil Radatz officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to McPherson County Humane Society or Alzheimer Association and they can be sent to Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home; 222 W. Euclid St.; McPherson, Kansas 67460.
